Type: Full-Time

Our client is in need of a Wind Turbine Engineer who will be responsible for supporting the operations of their wind turbines and will be responsible for monitoring wind turbine performances, investigation and mitigation of turbine component and sub-system failures. In addition, the person in this position will develop programs to improve wind turbine performance and/or reduce the cost of long-term operations. Responsibilities include:

• Manage external professionals who provide technical expertise and project support in evaluation of operational and performance issues.
• Organize and lead conference calls with suppliers to ensure their compliance with contractual obligations. Reviews supplier's root cause failure analysis and corrective action documentation.
• Organize and manage product improvement programs designed to increase wind turbine performance and/or reduce operational costs.
• Work with Procurement to develop and qualify second and third-tier parts suppliers.
• Assist wind plant Operations and Maintenance personnel with other wind turbine infrastructure components such as but not limited to gearboxes, blades, generators, frequency converters, and pad transformers.
• Adhere to effective internal controls.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years experience in wind turbine engineering or operations.
• Demonstrated experience in root-cause-failure-analysis activity.
• Ability to climb 90 meter steel towers on occasional basis to perform root cause analysis investigation on turbine component failures.
• Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, data management, CAD, and reporting systems. Must be able to use computerized diagnostic, analysis, and troubleshooting tools.
• Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics / electrical one-line diagrams.
• Possession of comprehensive writing skills for upwards reporting.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment. (i.e. voltage testers, amp clamps, and various hand and power tools.)
• Must work well under pressure from job demands, multi-tasking ability essential.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

• Experience in wind turbine power performance evaluation a plus.
• Experience in wind plant operations a plus.
