The Sr. EHS Specialist should have the ability to demonstrate full technical competence related to environmental and regulatory affairs associated with the exploration, production, drilling, gas processing, and oil and gas service industry, and the ability to recognize and appropriately address any environmental issue related to an assigned area of business. In addition, the responsibilities and duties include: Planning and conducting assignments; solving complex problems and generating opportunities to enhance environmental performance and ensure environmental compliance. Representing the company at local industry and agency meetings and hearings. Understanding environmental and regulatory requirements and planning assignments independently or with support of corporate staff specialist. Acting as the project leader for certain assignments or as support staff for larger complex projects. Formulating and promoting sound and cost effective recommendations which support business objectives. Providing technical guidance to the company on complex environmental and regulatory issues. Assisting and guiding the work of Corporate Development, Public Affairs, and Operations on local environmental and regulatory matters Representing the company in local industry trade associations, councils, and city and county/parish activities to promote Chesapeake's positions related to environmental and regulatory issues Representing the company at local environmental and regulatory hearings and meetings Supporting the implementation of applicable environmental and regulatory programs. Supporting the investigation of environmental incidents. May direct or manage EHS contractors or consultants. Gathering and maintaining environmental data to compose reports and regulatory documents. Participating in the EHS field review and training programs. Travel to field locations. Requirements: Must have knowledge and/or technical environmental expertise in area of responsibility Understand existing regulatory requirements and demonstrate ability to effectively communicate the existing and new requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership ability Bachelor of Science Degree in Science or Engineering or at least 9 years of experience in field operations - preferably in oil and gas industry.
