Project & Technical Support Manager

The Project & Technical Support Manager is responsible to manage and lead the technical aspects of projects from inception to completion. He coordinates all technical elements of project orders with the factory, customers, sales team members, service support partners, internal and external constituents or any variety of stakeholders. He is also responsible for power plant start-up and commissioning co-ordination, as well as supporting service & maintenance in general. He assists the product support network, and leading the company’s technical service efforts. This function collaborates very closely with sales & marketing and various corporate admin tasks, and allows the job holder to gradually develop, and to widen its operational management experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Be involved during sales process & negotiations, performing as technical support function, and coordinate all important technical details with colleagues and customers when the project is finally being discussed in all details.
2) Understand each project thoroughly and make technical suggestions wherever required.
3) Brainstorm with the factory project & engineering teams to establish realistic estimates and timelines for each project.
4) Share creative ideas, technical suggestions, and concerns with all team members.
5) Make all the stake holders agree upon a project completion date and budget.
6) Prepare a designated project folder for each individual project, and manage good practice record keeping.
7) Break the project into milestones and fix a time and budget for each segment.
8) Communicate project status clearly and frequently with customers and the sales team, as well as with external vendors. Collaborate with all stakeholders and manage overall expectations.
9) Monitor and ensure that all parts of the project (engineering, manufacturing, logistics, installation, and commissioning) are getting completed smoothly and as per schedule.
10) Develop detailed, clear and realistic project plans, estimates and schedules. Document all project requirements. Identify and coordinate team resource requirements, deliverables, and schedule technical work to be performed.
11) Prepare and have alternate plans ready in case the main plan fails or runs into problems that are affecting the original schedule.
12) Develop internal & external project management procedures to establish best in class customer experience.
13) Manage multiple, simultaneous project schedules at the same time, and coordinate with cross-functional team members that may include factory and other external resources.
14) Manage the company’s technical library, including all technical product documentation.
15) Travel to the factory and keep regularly updated.
16) Manage all technical communication between the company, its customers and authorized service & maintenance partners.
17) Manage equipment installation, coordinate with customers, and organize plant start-up schedules.
18) Travel to customer job sites and co-ordinate the professional unloading, equipment positioning, and supervise the site assembly of equipment.
19) Manage the installation support process, including training, organization and supervision of technical support personnel, and / or subcontractors.
20) Manage start-up and equipment commissioning, co-ordinate with customers and the factory, travel to customer job sites and supervise plant commissioning, including final testing.
21) Manage all technical support for authorized service & maintenance partners.
22) Manage and organize technical training for authorized service & maintenance partners.
23) Travel to jobsites, meet customers, and make occasional site visits and inspections.
24) Assist authorized service & maintenance partners with all technical questions, trouble shooting, diagnostics, and resolve technical problems.
25) Assist with parts supply, as well as manage parts availability on a local level.
26) Manage critical technical service issues, and provide second-level trouble shooting services in close co-ordination with the factory, customers, and authorized service partners.
27) Assign special product support functions to authorized service partners, supervise response times, technical solutions, and manage roles of all the contributors.
28) Assist with service problems when deemed necessary by the situation, and in order to assure total customer satisfaction.
29) Create a pleasant and positive work atmosphere where all contributors feel important and responsible.
30) Adapt to the diverse needs of a small team and address internal and external requirements with flexibility and creativity.
31) Perform other such tasks as needed and as requested by the President. This description contains information necessary to describe and evaluate the job.
Skills Required:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent people skills Excellent technical understanding and skills in reference to internal combustion engines
Good understanding of genset power systems technologies, including electrical controls
Good understanding of electrical engine diagnostic technologies
Microsoft Office know-how
Must present a positive, professional, and team player attitude
Must be flexible and able to adapt to change quickly
German language skills would be a great advantage, but are not absolutely required

Education & Experience:
Technical Power Systems Training and hand’s on mechanical education.
Preferable a Power Systems Apprentice education (or equivalent degrees) Power Systems, Genset & Engine Technician experience required Power Systems, Genset Installation, Start-Up and Testing experience required
The candidate would normally have attained the required project management knowledge and skills through completion of adequate coursework / training, combined with related practical experience.
