Project Description:
A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Bioenergy Science Center located at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators undertaking a broad, integrated approach aimed at ultimately improving feedstock chemistry to enhance the conversion of biomass to biofuels. The approaches being used in this study include bioinformatics, comparative and functional genomics, gene expression and protein interaction studies to better understand cellulose biosynthesis in plants. The postdoc will be expected to contribute to the proteomics aspect of the project.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry or a related field and will be expected to work closely with the Genomics group at ORNL to establish a marker profiling, QTL analysis, and interaction genomics platform. Prior experience with genotyping and genetic mapping studies is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a publication record in plant QTL genetics/genonics area. Excellent analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required. Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.
