Project Description:
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the area of materials joining and allied science and technology. The research emphases will be in the area of computational modeling and neutron/synchrotron experimental study of microstructure evolution associated with materials joining and its effect on the performance of lightweight structural materials for energy efficiency. The successful applicant should have a strong background and interest in materials joining with demonstrated capability of innovative and independent research. The applicant should also be able to help operate experimental research instruments for materials joining and characterizations.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Welding, Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related science and engineering discipline at the time of appointment. This position requires prior experience in multi-physics simulation codes such as ABAQUS, ANSYS or other similar codes, and knowledge of applications of neutron/synchrotron in metallic materials research.
Applicants cannot have received the most recent degree more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment.
